Liverpool is one of the best cities in the UK for a night out. With 3 main universities – the University of Liverpool, John Moores, Liverpool Hope University, and around 60,000 students, there are naturally many bars and student nights dedicated to students.
But what night is student night in Liverpool? The answer is every night! And what are the best student nights? That’s what we’ll be exploring in this blog post.
From Mad Mondays at The Raz to Pandamonium at Electrik, here you can find some of the best student nights in Liverpool for each day of the week.
Mad Mondays at The Raz – Whether you’re a fresher or you’re in your final year, you’ve got to give Blue Angel a try (affectionately known as The Raz). As a student, the best night to venture to the Raz is a Monday. On ‘Mad Mondays’, entry costs just £1.50 – and you can get drinks for just £1. Be sure to try the ‘Fat Frog’! And make sure you bring your cash, as this venue is cash-only.
Get Down at Brooklyn Mixer – You’ve also got Brooklyn Mixer to head to on a Monday night. Open til 4 am, you can enjoy some cocktails and student drink deals!
SKINT at Moloko and Peacock – The best place to head on a Tuesday night is St Peter’s Square, a very quick walk from Concert Square. At Peacock, you have hip hop and party RNB – and at Moloko, you’ve got tech house and disco. Appropriately named, this student night is perfect if you’re skint, with very student-friendly prices.
Quids In at Level – Level is the biggest nightclub in Liverpool, and with 3 floors, 6 rooms and 7 bars, there’s something for everyone, whatever your music taste. Make the most of £3.50 doubles and other student deals – once you’ve paid your £1 entry fee, of course!
Dirty Antics at Heebies – The best place to go on a Thursday is Heebie Jeebies. With £3.50 doubles and your choice of three rooms, it’s the perfect night out for students. You can also get £2 shots of Sambuca or Tequila!
The Brookhouse – If you’re a second or third-year student, you’re probably living in or near Smithdown. If so, you’re in luck – loads of students head down to the Brookhouse on Thursday nights for cheap drinks.
Medication at Electrik – Med had been the Friday night student go-to for years. This classic venue has had several venues over the years, but is currently located at Electrik – and is the biggest weekly dance event in Liverpool! With three rooms of different music styles, Med is more like a festival than a club (there are even performers and face painters!). Head down for one of the best nights in the city.
The weekends are less student-based, but there are still some go-to hotspots for students on a Saturday…
Pandamonium at Electrik – Weekends are a little more expensive, but you can get £5 doubles at Electrik on a Saturday. There’s music for everyone, from cheesy pop to hip-hop and indie. Entry starts at £3.
Indie Night at Heebies – If you’re a lover of indie tunes, get yourself down to Heebie Jeebies on Saturdays. You can dance to anything from The Black Keys to Tame Impala until 4 am!
There aren’t really any set student nights on a Sunday night – but that’s not to say the bars in town won’t be lively! Many students, however, relax on a Sunday night and prepare for the week of lectures and seminars ahead.
Here are some helpful FAQs to help you make the most of the student nights Liverpool has on offer:
The best venues are in town – within walking distance of your student flats or student accommodation. Electrik in town plays a wide variety of music, so you can have a great night out whatever your preference. Heebie Jeebies is also a great place to go, with several rooms and an old-school feel.
It honestly depends on your preference - but most students prefer Wednesdays for the Quids In Night at Level - it's always packed full of students and has cheap drink offers. Aside from Fridays, Wednesday is probably the busiest night for students in Liverpool.
Matthew Street is almost always busy, with partiers of all ages. It's a great place for everyone, freshers and OAPs alike. You've got plenty of choices when it comes to bars, from Rubber Soul to Remeniss – and of course, The Cavern Club. There’s also student-friendly pricing – many of the bars on and around Matthew Street have free or cheap entry, and it's only a short walk back to your student accommodation.
Absolutely - head down to the gay quarter on Victoria Street for your pick of LGBTQ+ bars! Liverpool is actually home to some of the best LGBT bars in the UK, from The Lisbon with regular club nights and burlesque performers to The Masquerade. There's also Superstar Boudoir, Heaven, and of course, GBar.
